Purdue University Global Online Nurse Practitioner Programs – AGACNP, AGPCNP, FNP

The School of Nursing at Purdue University Global offers an online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Post-Master’s Certificate programs with three specializations: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Students complete coursework 100% online with one required campus visit for the AGACNP program and practicums at approved facilities local to the student. The FNP and AGPCNP tracks do not require any campus visits.

In addition to the traditional online format, Purdue Global offers an ExcelTrack MSN option in which all core courses are taken at an accelerated pace for a flat fee. Students are allowed to take as many 1-credit courses as they can handle in a 10-week period, with each course covering a single piece of knowledge or a single skill. ExcelTrack students are monitored by a faculty member to ensure progression for the final assessment in each course. Once core courses are completed, students move on to the traditional online learning format for the AGACNP, AGPCNP, and FNP MSN tracks.

Adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioners (AGACNPs) work with acutely ill adult patients in intensive care units, surgical units, and critical care settings. They provide diagnosis and management of acute and complex illnesses, working with a care team to create a care and treatment plan. Graduates of this track are eligible to take the AGACNP certification exam. Students in this specialization come to a Purdue Global location for a 2.5-day intensive.

Adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioners (AGPCNPs) work with young adults, adults, and aging adults in primary care and long-term care situations, treating acute and chronic illnesses, creating care plans, and promoting preventive medicine. Primary care nurses work with individuals, families, and communities to improve patient quality of care to the populations they serve. Graduates of this specialization are eligible to take the AGPCNP certification exam.

Family nurse practitioners (FNPs) serve patients across the lifespan through preventive medicine and education, physical assessment, and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Primary care nurses deliver a more holistic version of patient care, working with patients, their families and the communities they serve to improve quality of life and quality of care. Graduates of this track are eligible to take the FNP certification exam.

Purdue University Global is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Purdue University Global is located in Indianapolis, Indiana with other campuses around the country.

Tuition is calculated based on credits, at the published tuition rate. Rates may change, so please check here for the latest tuition information. For programs with variable tuition rates, we use the rates for part-time students. “Resident” and “non-resident” refer to the student’s school-recognized state residency status. Tuition number represents the cost of tuition for the entire program, not per semester or year. Estimated total tuition does not include additional fees.
