Touro University Online Family Nurse Practitioner Programs

The School of Nursing through Touro University Nevada offers an online Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN – FNP) program with 100% online coursework, three one-week campus visits, and preceptorships at approved facilities local to the student in Arizona or Nevada. There is also a corresponding Post-Master’s FNP Certificate offered.

The MSN is designed to be completed in just seven trimesters. Nurses may continue to work full-time during the first four trimesters, but may find it difficult to maintain a full-time work schedule during clinicals.

The Post-Master’s Certificate program offers the opportunity to expand upon an MSN without specialization or to widen the scope of service for licensed nurse practitioners in another specialization. The certificate program includes five fewer courses than the MSN and length will also depend on prior education and eligible transfer courses.

The Touro University School of Nursing seeks to prepare nurses to be leaders in their field, caring for patients in an ethical manner with sensitivity to cultural diversity. Nurses are trained to practice from an evidence-based approach, upholding the tenets of the nursing profession. The School of Nursing helps students locate preceptors and clinical sites through which to complete clinical preceptorships. MSN and certificate students must complete clinicals in Nevada or Arizona and be eligible for Nevada RN licensure.

Graduates of these programs will be eligible to take the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). FNP graduates may work in a variety of health care settings including home health care, private practice, primary care clinics, hospitals, urgent care clinics, emergency care settings, long-term care facilities, government organizations, and schools.

Touro University is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). It is a branch campus of Touro University California. The FNP programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Touro University is located in Henderson, Nevada.
